Daniel Zovatto Facts
Daniel developed an interest in acting at an early age after getting influenced by the atmosphere that he would experience on the sets of talk shows where he often used to accompany his mother, a TV presenter.
He is obsessed with horror films and this fascination started in his childhood when his father introduced him to the iconic 1980 psychological horror film titled The Shining. Daniel’s nickname, Danny, was taken from the child protagonist of that film – Danny Torrance.
Born in Costa Rica, he moved to New York City in his late teenage years and began working in the local theater scene. Daniel’s acting career began when he was cast in the short films titled 55 Days and The Return – both released in 2012. Thereafter, he moved to Los Angeles where he made his feature film debut in the 2013 independent horror film titled Beneath.
In February 2019, in light of his performances in the films Don’t Breathe (2016) and Lady Bird (2017), Daniel was included in the list of ’10 Latinxs to Watch’. The list was compiled by Variety, a weekly entertainment publication that broadly covers movies, TV, theater, music, and technology. ‘Latinx’ is a term used to refer to people of Latin American cultural or ethnic identity in the United States.
Later that year, Daniel was invited to Variety’s brunch that was held to celebrate the rising filmmakers and actors who were included in the aforementioned list. The event was held in partnership with the 36th edition of the Miami Film Festival, an annual showcase of independent American and international films (with a special focus on Ibero-American (a region in the Americas comprising countries or territories where Spanish or Portuguese are predominant languages) films) that is held in Miami, Florida.
