Laurence Wachowski was born on 21 June 1965, in Chicago, Illinois USA, to Lyn and Ron Wachowski, a family of Polish ancestry, but is best known as Lana Wachowski ,a producer, screenwriter and director, who has created notable movies such as ‘’The Matrix’’ franchise and ‘’V For Vendetta’’.
So just how rich is Lana Wachowski, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, this American filmmaker has net worth of over $125 million, accumulated from her over two decades-long career in the previously mentioned field.
Lana Wachowski Net Worth $125 million
When it comes to Lana’s education, she studied at the Kellogg Elementary School, and then, at Whitney Young High School, where she worked on the school’s theatre program alongside her sister Lilly. Having matriculated, Lana went on to enroll into Brad College in New York, but quit before graduating. After that, Lana worked for the family’s house painting business, concurrently writing for Marvel Comics. Wachowski made her debut in films writing the script for ‘’Assassins’’ in 1994, which was followed by the release of the movie in 1995. During this time, Lana still identified as male and was credited as Larry Wachowski. The highlight of this period in her life was when she wrote ‘’Matrix’’ in 1999, a science fiction film which received an overwhelmingly positive response and acclaim, winning four Oscars and 34 other awards, in addition to being nominated for 45 others. The film starred Keanu Reeves, who portrayed Neo, a computer hacker who discovers that humans are run by a simulated reality, or the so called Matrix. It grossed more than $463 million at the box office and as of today is considered one of the best movies ever made. Lana’s net worth benefited accordingly!
The first movie was followed by ‘’The Matrix Reloaded’’, released in May 2003, which received positive reviews once again, although not receive such critical acclaim as the previous one, but it grossed even more money at the box office, scoring $742 million in addition to receiving eight awards such as the BMI Film Music Award and the Teen Choice Award for the Choice Movie – Drama/Action Adventure. The trilogy ended with another sequel, ‘’Matrix Revolutions’’, which didn’t live up to expectations, but still did well at the box office grossing more than $427 million in 2003, adding further to Lana’s net worth.
Lana and her sister had more projects during the mid-2000s, but the highlight of that period for them was ‘’V for Vendetta’’, which they wrote in 2005. The film featured stars such as Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving and followed the story of the hero ‘’V’’, who fights against tyranny and in the same way as in ‘’Matrix’’, the storyline is set in the future. The film received public praise from critics and the audience, and won a Saturn award and the SDFCS Award for Best Production Design. In addition, Lana and her sister Lilly were nominated for the Best Dramatic Presentation – Long Form.
When it comes to their latest work, Lana and Lilly created 24 episodes of ‘’Sense8’’, a television drama mystery series broadcast on Netflix, which had notable success, and received two nominations for Primetime Emmy awards.
In her personal life, Wachowski has been identifying as a female since 2000, and has talked about her issues with the perception of transgender people. She has been married twice, with her marriage to Thea Bloom from 1993 until 2002. She was dated Karin Winslow, and the couple married in 2009.

Quote
1
For years, I couldn't even say the words transgendered or transsexual. When I began to admit it to myself, I knew I would eventually have to tell my parents and my brother and my sisters. This fact would inject such terror into me that I would not sleep for days.
2
I chose to change my exterior to bring it closer into alignment with my interior. My biggest fears were all about losing my family. Once they accepted me, everything else has been a piece of cake.
