Michael was born on November 22 1966. His parents are Bahamian (mother) and Booker T. Williams (father). He was 54 years when he passed away on September 6 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and studied at the National Black Theatre in Harlem when he was a teenager. Michael also worked at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a temp.
Michael had an intense desire to go into the entertainment scene and so against the wish of his family, he quit his job and dropped out of school. He then started work as a dancer and went as far as working with artists like Madonna, George Michael, and Crystal Waters.
Michael had his breakthrough as an actor after being discovered by Tupac Shakur. He was then cast as High Top in “Bullet” (1996). He usually had a role as a thug-type character as a result of the large scar on his face. So, from the mid-90s to the early 2000s, Michael featured in several movies like “Bringing Out the Dead”, “Law & Order”, and “The Sopranos”.
In 2002, Michael finally had the biggest sprunt in his career after being featured as Omar Little in a movie called “The Wire”. He became popular for his role in the humour played. So in 2007, Michael was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Omar. In 2008, then-Senator Barack Obama called “The Wire” his favourite TV show and called Omar his favourite character.
