Captain Sandy claimed Kiko’s performance was not up to par with her standards.

Kiko was wondering what would be the best dinner option for the guests on the boat. He turned to Chief Stewardess Hannah Ferrier for advice. Taking her advice, Chef Kiko prepared truffle fries and nachos along with fried chicken and shrimp cocktail. Despite getting advice from the Chief Stewardess, Captain Sandy was disappointed by the menu.

Chef Kiko was then called out by Captain Sandy who then proceeded to fire him. After hearing Sandy’s explanation, he agreed with her when she said that it was “horrible.”

According to The Daily Dish, after getting fired, Kiko was ready to leave the boat that following morning. However, he ultimately decided to keep his promise to stay until they dropped the guests off. “I ask myself, ‘Am I a quitter?’ I never quit. I never quit. Never quit a job. Never,” he shared. “It’s better I finish because that’s my personality. And that’s why I decided to stay, even though it was hurting me so bad.”

Despite his firing, he went out serving a fantastic meal.

After Sandy told him that these guests would be his last, he still decided to go out with integrity. Kiko told The Daily Dish that he was glad he finished out the charter job because he was able to have one last opportunity to show off his cooking skills. “I made the guests happy in the end,” he said. “And it was good. [A] great feeling, actually, because I had that crush that night [before], but after was totally fine. [I] was good. So, I felt great.”

“I think I left with a good impression,” he explained. “Food is love for me. It’s not just technique or anything like that… I was proud of myself.”

Kiko said his firing on 'Below Deck' was bittersweet.

While Kiko admitted to being emotional after being fired because he wasn’t sure how it would impact his career, he admitted that he was also happy to get back to his normal life. “Now, everything’s OK. I’m gonna get my board and go surf. Eat good food. Cook for my friends. And I was feeling awesome,” he recalled. “[Here comes the] positive vibe again.”

Looking back on his time on Below Deck: Med, Kiko says that he wishes he would have trusted his gut more. “I was thinking too much about what people think about me and what people [are] gonna say about me. So, I [thought] too much about that, and I forgot that I just have to be myself and follow my thoughts,” he shared.
